Q: If I have a discussion scheduled on Wednesday when classes start, but I don't have the first lecture for that class until Thursday, am I still supposed to go?

It depends on the class. Some classes are wait-listed or more people want to enroll in them so going to the first discussion is mandatory in determining your enrollment in the class. Other classes might not require you to attend your discussion on Wednesday. To be safe, I would check on Bspace.berkeley.edu to see if there were any announcements regarding class schedules or email the professor and ask him/her. If there's no announcements or if the professor does not reply, it's best to just show up to the discussion and see if anyone's there. Hope that helps!
