Q: Are we allowed to take laptops into classes to take notes? Also, what should we bring on the first day of class?

You can definitely bring laptops to class as a general rule, but I'd be careful in smaller classes - you'd stick out a lot. In larger lectures it's practically the norm, so you won't feel too left out. I've seen people play Starcraft during lectures. So basically, it depends, but it's usually permitted because it really is a faster (though distracting sometimes) way to take notes! And for the first day of school, most classes it's just going over the syllabus or getting course materials. You don't need to bring your books or get stressed about taking too many notes. Just pay attention to required texts, maybe midterm dates, grading policies, etc. Good luck!!!!
