  <answer>Hi Jack, yeah, R1A has a lot of papers and reading.  If possible, I recommend taking it during the summer.  There are a lot of summer schools that allow you to transfer credit (go to the Assist.org).  I had a friend who took R1A at Berkeley City College and it was pretty easy and fully transferrable to Cal.
