Q: I don't know what to major in right now. How should I plan out my classes for freshman year?
The Answer
Planning your classes for freshman year can be very overwhelming; I know it certainly was for me, especially because I didn't know what I wanted to major in. A good idea is to narrow down your choices and take common prerequisite courses (classes you need to get into a major). For example, if you know you are interested in life sciences, you will need to take some biology courses no matter what major you are, so you can try those courses first because you can use it to count toward your major requirement later. One resource I use to sort through the enormous number of courses is a course-planner online that helps me check all the time conflicts and options. It's http://esc.frozeninflames.net/ I wish I knew it freshman year so I didn't have to sort through all the times and options manually. Also, welcome week, you'll have some time on campus to talk to major advisors.
