Q: I was wondering what the difference is between MCB and IB? And if I'm pre-med, do I have to be MCB?
The Answer
The difference between MCB and IB is that MCB emphasizes biology that's on a smaller scale or as its name dictates, on a Molecular and Cell level. IB, on the other hand, deals more with biology on a large scale such as anatomy, evolution, ecology, etc. So they both emphasize different aspects of biology. You definitely do not have to be a MCB major in order to be pre-med. As long as you complete the pre-med pre-req's, you can be any major you want! A lot of people just choose to be biology majors because their major requirements will overlap with their pre-med requirements.
