Q: What are some MUST-TRY places to eat in Berkeley?

The Answer

The south side of Berkeley is where most students generally go if they want yummy food for an affordable price. The blocks surrounding Durant Ave and Telegraph are where most of the eateries are located. If you're looking for a one-stop location to satisfy all your cravings, the Durant Food Court and its surrounding stores has got it all - from Thai all the way to Italian. Lotus House is known for having the cheap and fast Chinese food in south side, Gypsy's serves delicious Italian food for a decent price, and Quickly's sells a variety of boba drinks and fried snacks. For late nights until 2 am, La Burrita sells cheap and yummy Mexican food, Top Dog sells up to 15 different kinds of hot dogs, and King Pin offers a variety of freshly made donuts and desserts. Across the street from the Durant Food Court, House of Curries sells good Indian curries and different varieties of naan (delicious Indian flat bread) that will make you love Indian food if you've never tried it before. For frozen yogurt, Yogurtland is the hip new chain that just opened on Bancroft right across from campus with up to 8 varieties of yogurt flavors and over 30 different toppings.
If you're looking for quality food that may come at a slightly higher price, Thai House on Channing Way and Telegraph sells delicious dishes such as Pad Thai Noodles, Garlic Pepper Pork, and Fried Banana with Coconut Ice Cream. Toast is a Korean restaurant that sells a variety of soups, rice dishes, and traditional Korean favorites.
If you're willing to walk a little farther, down south on College Ave is a nice and quaint area with a variety of restaurants - from delicious Chicago deep-dish style pizza at Zachary's to fresh and flavorful Mediterranean food at La Mediterranee. Ici is also a famous ice-cream shop that sells to-die-for sugar cones and gourmet ice cream flavors made fresh every day.
